Top 10 places in India not allowed to visit

These are 10 significant destinations in India :

North Sentinel Island, Andaman & Nicobar Islands:

Reason: Home to the Sentinelese, one of the world's last uncontacted tribes. The Indian government absolutely forbids contact or approach to save the tribe from foreign diseases and to help maintain their lifestyle. It's unsafe to approach since the tribe has been known to respond negatively to outsiders.

Access: Totally prohibited. There is a enforced exclusion zone of some nautical miles around the island.

Nicobar Islands (major part of the archipelago), Andaman & Nicobar Islands:

Purpose: To safeguard a number of native tribes such as the Nicobarese and Shompen, and to maintain their distinctive ecosystems.

Access: Primarily closed to all tourists, foreign and domestic. Special permits are only occasionally issued for research or official functions.

Aksai Chin:

Purpose: A contested border region between China and India, under control of China but claimed by India. It is an extremely sensitive military region.

Access: Absolutely prohibited for travelers. To enter this area illegally may result in harsh penalties.

Siachen Glacier (Above Siachen Base Camp), Ladakh:

Reason: It is the world's highest active war zone, heavily militarized because of the India-Pakistan conflict.

Access: Though the Siachen Base Camp has been made available to Indian civilians (with an Inner Line Permit), the glacier and higher altitudes are reserved for military personnel only. Foreigners are not usually allowed even to the base camp.

Barren Island, Andaman & Nicobar Islands:

Reason: Home to India's sole active volcano. The region is deemed risky owing to possible eruptions and poisonous gases.

Access: Disembarkation on the island is forbidden. You can see it at a distance, normally as part of a guided tour, by boat.

Some Military Cantonments and Restricted Areas:

Reason: For strategic and national security reasons. They are high-security military bases, testing areas, and sensitive borders countrywide.

Access: From highly restricted with heavy penalties for intrusion to total ban, depending on the concerned area. Examples are some places in Rajasthan along the Pakistan border or certain areas in big cantonments.

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai:

Reason: India's top nuclear research center and a very sensitive facility.

Access: Forbidden for common people altogether due to national security and safety reasons. Authorized personnel only.

Certain Peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga, Sikkim:

Reason: The third-highest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga, is regarded as holy by the local Sikkimese people. Climbing certain peaks is forbidden out of religious respect.

Access: While trekking to the lower base camps or lower peaks is permitted with permits, attempts to climb the main peaks are banned from the Indian side since 2001.

Cholamu Lake, Sikkim

Reason: Situated very near the Indo-China border, it is one of the world's highest lakes and a militarily sensitive region.

Access: Totally closed. Just the Indian Army and government-authorized personnel are allowed.

Silent Valley National Park (Core Zone), Kerala:

Reason: To conserve its original tropical evergreen rain forest, which is an important biodiversity hotspot and habitat to several endangered species, including the Lion-tailed Macaque.

Access: Though access to buffer zones and recognized trekking trails with guides is permitted, the inner core parts of the park remain strictly off-limits to limit human interference and conserve its delicate ecosystem.
